1. General Guidelines

· Requirements to be an HDKA Track

· The Hoosier Dirt Karting Alliance is based off of Good Faith that a track will attempt to work with the alliance, it is not intended to control a tracks events or program only to unite the tracks into a common goal of improving the Karting experience in Indiana

· A Track must agree to follow the rules set out by the HDKA to the best of their ability. We understand some rules may have to be modified for different situations.

· A Track must agree to respect the other tracks and when possible work your schedules with tracks near you.

· A Track must agree to when possible try to not race on the nights when there is a large HDKA Event at another track.

· Attempt to show or have a representative show up to any HDKA Meetings and vote for anything that the HDKA needs to decide on.

· Safety is of the utmost importance and all racers must follow the safety rules of the track hosting each race. The HDKA is not responsible for actions or accidents that may occur at the individual tracks as they are the ones in control of each event

· Any Driver Refusing Tech inspection at an HDKA Track can be Banned from any HDKA Track for the remainder of the season

· Any Driver Failing Tech Inspection will be DQ’d for the event where they failed Tech Inspection and

· 1st offense will be put on probation for the remainder of the season

· 2nd offense will be Placed on suspension for 30 Days at any HDKA Tracks

· 3rd offense can be placed on suspension for 6 months not including November thru February from any HDKA Tracks

· Any Driver Refusing the Claim Rule will be banned from that motor class for the remainder of the season

· HDKA Tracks will Share Tech inspection information from each track to maintain the records of anyone failing tech inspection, refusing claim or refusing Tech inspection.

· Note from the HDKA: As JR Clone kart counts grow with time we would like to change to a Rookie/JR1/JR2/JR3 Format

· Competition Age is determined by someone’s age on July 1st of that year

· Anyone not behaving in a sportsmanlike manor may be banned from the HDKA anyone banned will forfeit any membership or money in the HDKA. Any decisions on banning someone will be decided by a vote of the track promoters

· We will follow the WKA class and engine rules for the 50cc Comer kid Kart classes

5. Clone Rules and Classes

· General Clone Rules

· Clone Motors will be tech inspected after feature to a level of the tracks discretion

· Claim rule will be used

· Recommended Clone Claim Amount $150

· Any Racer in the Feature will be allowed to claim any of the top 3 winning motors

· Motor Specs will be held by the tech at each track and comparison will be made to known stock motors

· Only Motors Allowed are the Jiang-Dong, Blue Max, Harbor Freight Central Machinery & Greyhound 6.5 hp Motors (Blue Motors)

·  87 octane pump gasoline only

·  May remove Governor, Low Oil Sensor & Kill Switch if desired. No other engine Modifications

· Floor mounted Tanks are allowed

· Stock Exhaust May be removed and the use of a 5/8"ID Header 11-14 inches in  length with safety washer welded onto end put in its place

· Stock Air Box must be used

· Top Cover does not have to be on the air box

· You may use the “Stock Style” Air Filter which is washable and reusable. It must be the same basic dimensions and shape as the Stock Filter

· Clutch must be a shoe & drum style clutch such as a Noram or MaxTorque etc.

 

· Clone Sr Rules

· Ages 15+

· Sr. Clone Class Weights

· Super        Minimum 400 lbs Driver Minimum Weight of 200 lbs

· JR Clone Class Rules

· 4-1. Rookie Class Rules

· Age 5-7

· Beginner Rule

· Any Racer that is 8 years old may be allowed to race in the Rookie Class until they have gathered 2 wins and then they must race in the JR1 Class

· Any Racer new to Karting that is 9 years old may be allowed to race in the Rookie class for up to 2 races or until they win a race whichever is first. Then they must move into the JR1 Class

· The HDKA may elect to allow someone to stay in the Rookie Class longer if it would be considered too unsafe for the racer to go faster, and they are not winning as a rookie  This would have to be voted on by the OP’s (Owners/Promoters)

· Weight Minimum 225 lbs

· Should a driver be determined by the HDKA to be at a weight disadvantage then we may make a gear exception to bring them up to the pack, but not so much to make the kart faster then the pack.

· Restrictor .TBD .425 or .500

· Spec Gear Size 14 front 62 rear

· This will be tested to determine if this is sufficient to allow a max speed of 32mph.

· Floor mounted tanks recommended

· It is recommended that this class be for Participant trophies for all.

· Note from the HDKA: The Goal of the rookie class is to teach driving and keep everyone as even as possible and the better drivers will win. We feel every racer at some point should be in a position that they feel they could win if they try a little harder. We feel it is very important to make it as fun as we can for them all. Any Kart exceeding speed limit will be looked at to determine the cause.

· Maximum tire circumference of 34.5 inches

 

· JR1 class rules

·  age 8-10

· A new inexperienced Racer Ages 11-12 may be allowed to run in this class for 2 races to gain experience only. They will be scored differently from the class. We would like for this racer to be awarded the same as a rookie participant.

· Weight Minimum 275 lbs

· .550 Restrictor

· Any gear

· floor mounted tanks recommended

 

· JR2 Class Rules

· Age 11-14

· Weight Minimum 300 lbs

· No Restrictor

· Any Gear

· Floor mounted tanks Recommended

 

· The HDKA will attempt to collect driver info in the JR/Rookie Classes from each track so we can assure that a racer is registered in the correct class at every track.

 

· Modified or “Stock Appearing” Clone Class

· Can use any Chinese Made Clone Motor

· Will require a Billet Flywheel

· Allow any pipe,

· Modified “Stock Carb” allowed with any internal modifications

· Class Minimum weight 360lbs

6. 35 and older

· Age 35+

· Weight 375 lbs

 

7. RWYB or Unlimited Classes

· Be Safe - Rules will be determined as needed

 

8. Tires

· For the HDKA there will be no tire rule, we will follow all of the tracks tire rules.

· The HDKA Series will be allowed only 1 set of right sides per night

· These will be marked on the grid at the first heat race.

· Any damaged tires needing replaced must be reported to the grid worker, and they will mark the new tire after reviewing the damaged tire

· The form must be completed by all members

· Form will serve as Kart Number Reservation also

· There is a one time fee for registering into each class of the HDKA

· These will be the only fees charged by the HDKA you will be responsible for race entry fees and pit passes at each track as normal.

· Membership, Class Registration Fee

· Membership per person $30

· Will Include 1 Class Registration per membership

· Additional Class Registration Fee $20

· This is for each additional class after your first class

· Example: a Member running 1 class is $30, a Member running 2 classes will be $50, a member running 3 Classes will be $70 and so on.

· Drop Nights

· Each Persons worst 2 points nights will be dropped from their points total

· Series points

· Figured off of how you finish against your fellow points racers

· Example: If 1st place is an HDKA racer and 2nd is not an HDKA Racer but 3rd is an HDKA Racer then the racer finishing 3rd will receive 2nd place points

· Attendance Bonus points may be awarded by the number of races you attend
